Become a Statistician
Similar to scoretable officials, statisticians make up a key part of the game presentation for elite fixtures and events in Canberra. Statistics are now kept electronically, so 3 people with 2 computers are responsible for keeping stats on games; 1 person is the “caller” while the other 2 people enter the information into a special computer basketball statistics program supplied on Basketball ACT laptop computers. Statistics are an incredibly important part of the game of basketball now, so the role of the statisticians has taken on increased importance. As with scoretable officials, statisticians get remunerated for WNBL and Waratah games. This is a terrific job for those that enjoy statistics or IT applications, as it is a combination of both. Basketball ACT will provide training in both calling and/or statistical data entry for any person that is interested in becoming a statistician.
