The Ginninderra Rats have organised a 24-hour basketball fundraiser to raise money and show support for Junior Elijah Arranz and his family, after he was involved in a tragic skydiving accident in late November.
Details for the fundraiser are as follows:
We have arranged a basketball event at the Belconnen Basketball and Sports Centre. It is intended as a family oriented event with games going hopefully for a full 24 hours. Also included will be a dunk contest, a three point shootout and a basketball skills event.
Teams can register by age group, or be of mixed age, be boys teams or girls teams or mixed teams. We have also had many families entering as teams.
The cost to register a team is $50, with a minimum of 5 players, and no maximum. Games will run for 55 minutes. Individuals can also register and we will combine them into teams, to play once we have enough registrations. You can also register for the other events through the website (the link can be found below).
If you want to register to help out, there will be a range of jobs that you can register your interest for, including Referees, Supervision and Front Door.
We have already had many kind offers of support and I would like to thank Basketball ACT and Café Bounce/2617 (who have offered to keep the kiosk open for coffee and food during the event as well as promoting the event in a range of ways).
Ginninderra Rats will keep you informed by sending out updates as we get closer to the event. Please pass this on through Club and School networks, and to anyone else who may be interested. If you have any questions or want out find out more please contact Adam Cooper on 0466 695 841.”
