Integrity complaint or how to report an incident

Complaints and Member Protection

Basketball ACT complies with Basketball Australia’s National Integrity Framework. The National Integrity Framework includes a suite of policies, educational materials. 

The Framework applies to all competitions and events conducted under the auspices of Basketball Australia or a member state/territory association, including the National Basketball League. 

The Framework sets out expectations for the conduct of all Participants but also incorporates detailed policies to regulate behaviour and ensure action can be taken against those who fail to adhere to behavioural standards and expose the sport to undue risk.

A Member Protection Policy is included within the Framework and Basketball ACT and its clubs are encouraged to report and respond to enquires that may fall within the scope. You can do this by following the complaint handling process/es below. 

There are five ways in which you can raise a concern within basketball:

2. Email Basketball ACT

You can email Basketball ACT with any complaints or concerns to this email: admin@basketballact.com.au

You may lodge a complaint through the Basketball Australia Complaint webform.

4. STOPline

You can report an integrity issue via STOPline, Basketball Australia’s independent reporting hotline which at the discretion of the reporter may be made anonymously:

Basketball ACT take all complaints or reports seriously and will endeavour to find the best outcome for all parties. 

Basketball ACT follow the below processes for handling complaints, giving sanctions and holding tribunal and appeal hearings.

Child Safety and Basketball

Basketball ACT is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all Children that are involved in our sport. WWVP Compliance and Reporting

It is an offence to work or volunteer in a regulated activity without a WWVP registration

Clubs are required to:

  1. Make sure all volunteers and staff who require a WWVP Card have one- this includes anyone who coaches, manages or assists with a team including vulnerable people.  
  2. Keep a register of WWVP records for volunteers and staff.
  3. Regularly check and update their WWVP register.
  4. Remove volunteers and staff from child related work if they get a negative notice or their cards expire.
