NBL1 National Finals Head to Canberra for 2025
The National Basketball League has announced that the 2025 Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 National Finals will be held in Australia’s capital, Canberra, from Friday August 29 through to Sunday August 31.
Games will be taking place at the Southern Cross Stadium in Tuggeranong as part of a jam-packed week of hoops, with the NBL Blitz also being announced for Canberra last week.
“The NBL1 National Finals are truly the pinnacle of semi-professional basketball in Australia, and we are incredibly excited to bring this event to Canberra for 2025,” NBL1 General Manager Dean Anglin said.
“Seeing teams from across the country battle it out over three days for the title of NBL1 National Champion is electric, and we can’t wait to see the passionate support from fans for their respective teams.”
Held on the Sunshine Coast, the 2024 edition of the NBL1 National Finals was a huge success. The reigning champion Knox Raiders men and Waverley Falcons women will return to defend last season’s titles, and will be joined by the ten NBL1 Conference Champions from around Australia.
“With 14 games of NBL1 and 10 games of NBL in the nation’s capital, we hope all basketball fans mark their calendars and make the trip to witness this spectacular showcase of talent and cheer on their favourite teams as they vie for the national title,” Anglin said.
Basketball ACT CEO Nicole Bowles added: “On the back of last week’s NBL Blitz news, and our own Alex Toohey being picked up in the NBA Draft, basketball in the ACT is enjoying a huge momentum surge.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be hosting the NBL1 National Finals in Canberra, and we can’t wait to see the Southern Cross Basketball Stadium in Tuggeranong transformed and projected on the national stage over the last weekend of August.”
Tickets are available now, so don’t miss out on your chance to witness all the action in Canberra this August.
