Members of the Basketball ACT family gathered at Belconnen Basketball Stadium for the annual Premier League Indigenous Round last night – Wednesday 5 July – as part of NAIDOC Week activities across the region.

Prior to the on-court action, a Welcome to Country was conducted by Ngunnawal Elder, Warren Daley. This was followed by a wonderful rendition of “My Island Home” by local singer, Alinta Barlow, which featured several verses in Ngunnawal language. Attendees were then invited to partake in the Smoking Ceremony, prior to heading into the stadium for all the on-court action.

Warren and Alinta were gracious enough to stay for tip-off of the Indigenous Round on-court.
